Five hours later and I’ve completed my driving shift. I consider myself a fairly capable woman- I take care of most of the maintenance on my house and know how to kill the ever present “palmetto bugs” that inhabit the Deep South. That being said, it’s a huge comfort to have a partner I can truly rely on. Despite taking the majority of the mileage, he didn’t blink when I admitted I’m plumb tired. If I was
on this trip alone, I would take a deep breath and truck on. I’ve done it plenty times in the past in far more strenuous circumstances. I count myself fortunate that this time I can gratefully let him take the wheel and guide us home safely.
